The river Pra is not prone to flooding like other rivers although much of its course is through flat terrains. But this year round, the river has devastated the area, leaving several people homeless. For several years now, farmers and other citizens living near the river had not experienced any of such catastrophic floods.
Our correspondent, Obeng Darko suspects the unfortunate incident may be because accumulated silt on the riverbed coupled with days of heavy rains to overcome dikes built along the river banks by the citizens to contain the rising water.
According to the report, the Disaster Management Organizations and affected citizens are working hard together to find a lasting solution to the problem which he described as good news.
