The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of National Identification Authority (NIA), Mrs. Bertha Dzeble has confirmed to Peace News that due to the greater turnout of people at certain registration centres in the ongoing National Identification Registration Exercise, two more days has been added to the already exhausted 10 days.
According to her, the following registration centres in the Ga East District will benefit from the two-day extension; Madina Social Welfare Centre, Faith Community Baptist School, Madina, Kwabenya D/C Primary School, Dome-Anglican Primary School and the Ashongman Hospital.
Also in the Ga West and South District, other Registration Centers to partake in the d days extension include the Amasaman Post Office, Ablekuma School, Mallam New Life Primary �A�, Abeka Motorway JHS, Chantan, Botianor Methodist School and the Oblogo B/A Primary School. She explained that, officer from the NIA monitored that the above-mentioned centres experienced the highest turnout hence, the two days extension.
In furtherance, Mrs Bertha Dzeble confirmed that early next year, NIA will open permanent registration centres in all regional and Districts Capitals in Ghana to cater for everyone who could not get the opportunity to register now. Additionally, she said, the NIA has already received financial clearance to recruit and train staff to print the cards (Identification Cards) for the people registered. She assured Ghanaians that rationing of the cards will begin early next year.
