A police constable at Beposo in the Sekyere Central District has been arrested for alleged defilement of a 13-year old primary school pupil.
Constable Jeoffery Agbohla has been granted police inquiry bail.
Police Chief Superintendent Edward Oduro Kwateng, Asante-Mampong Divisional Commander, who confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency, said the policeman was detained over-night.
This was after a medical report by doctors at the Asante-Mampong District Hospital established that the victim had indeed been defiled.
He said as soon as investigations were completed, Constable Agbohla would be put before Court.
Meanwhile, the Assembly-member for Beposo, Mr Kofi Asare, has appealed to the Police Administration to act quickly on the case to ensure justice.
The appeal comes amidst growing suspicion among sections of the community that the police are trying to protect Constable Agbohla.
