The Ga Traditional Council said on Friday that the ban on drumming and noise making would start on Monday, May 7 and end on Thursday June 7.
The custom “odadaw” signifying the lifting of the ban would accordingly be performed on June 7 to signal the commencement of celebrations of the Homowo festival.
A statement signed by Ms Mercy Asante, Registrar of the Council said “it is expected that during this period, the public would respect the ban and honour the custom and tradition of the Ga State”.
The statement said: "The Council wishes all residents within the Ga State a successful and peaceful period of meditation.”
It said the Homowo celebration would be as follows: Nungua, Sunday July 1, Lante Djanwe, Saturday July 28, Tema, Friday August 10 and Ga Mashie, Saturday August 11.
The rest are Osu, La, Teshie, Kpone, Prampram and Ningo, Tuesday August 21.
