One person has been shot while several others were wounded in Yendi following the renewal of violence between Abudus and Andanis on Friday night.
Reports indicate the victim is receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
An eyewitness, Abdala Saddick, told Citi News information making rounds is that a group of people came from Tamale to enskin a chief and were met with violence by the rival party of the Kampapuya Naa.
“People were throwing stones and there is so much tension in town,” Saddick said. “Just when they were being escorted out of the town, one of the guys removed a gun and shot one person. “
Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP George Tuffuor, has told Citi News an uneasy calm has returned to the Yendi Township.
“There was an incident. The police was forced to fire some guns to disperse the people. As to whether someone was injured we’re yet to know. Now everything is normal,” DCOP Tuffuor stated.
He assured that despite their numerical challenges they are on top of the issues.
