BLOODIED and afraid, a badly injured little boy sits awaiting treatment in a Syrian hospital - one of the latest victims of the countrys continuing violence.
The innocent youngster, caked in blood and distressed, was one of 100 survivors of devastating series of car bombs in the city of Aleppo which killed 33 people earlier today.
Suicide bombers detonated vehicles packed with explosives in the main square of the northern city, levelling buildings and trapping survivors under the rubble. Aleppo, Syrias commercial hub and largest city, has seen intensified fighting between regime forces and rebels trying to oust President Bashar Assad, especially after the fighters launched a new offensive last week.
But it has not been the target of frequent suicide attacks and todays wave of explosions caused panic and fear among residents.
One local said: It was like a series of earthquakes. It was terrifying, terrifying.
