Part of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis on Saturday experienced floods after a five-hour downpour.
Some suburbs affected were Tanokrom, Anaji West, Namibia, Cocoa Villa, Egyinabowa-Kakam and Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout.
However, Mr Japheth Baidoo, Western Regional Manager of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Takoradi that the flood victims would not get relief items because the Organisation does not have materials available to supply to them.
He advised the citizenry to take proactive steps to desilt drains in their communities and not rely solely on the government or district assemblies to undertake desilting exercises.
He said NADMO in collaboration with the Sekondi-Takoradi Assembly would next week Saturday June 8, launch a special clean-up and desilting exercise to desilt drains in the central business district of Takoradi.
A number of rooms were flooded, however, there was no report of death or collapsed building.
