Newmont Gold Ghana, a mining company, has retrenched 240 of its work force in response to the falling prices of gold on the global market.
The affected employees were selected from all the operational areas and departments of the company namely Accra, Akyem and Ahafo mines.
The Communications Manager of the Ahafo Mines, Agbeko Kwame Azumah, who confirmed this to Radio Ghana, explained that the decision was also necessitated by management�s review of the Company�s cost and activities so as to remain profitable and in business.
