Glefe, Apetekwei and Mpoase near Dansoman in Accra have been submerged by large volumes of gushing water from the Weija Dam spillage.
Basic Schools, Daycare institutions and pockets of health centers dotted in the neighborhood have been taken over by the floods. Personal belongings of the affected residents have also been destroyed by the water.
The communities do not have access roads and drainage; the houses are basically nucleate. The sanitation is very bad. There is looming danger of cholera outbreak and malaria. this is because the water is stagnant and can no find its way out.
The affected residents have sought solace with friends and families in the unaffected communities.The police have been combing the area all day to protect lives and few properties left undestroyed.
