The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has asked its Ashanti Regional President, Listowel Yesu Burkason not to return to his position after he contested in the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries.
Listowel Yesu Burkason was one of the two aspirants in the Builsa North who contested Saturday polls but lost.
Speaking to Citi News, National President of the GJA, Affail Monney said Mr Burkason seizes to be the leader of the Ashanti Regional branch of the Association.
“He cannot do politics while occupying the position as the regional chairman of the Ghana Journalist Association. Burkason is no more the regional chairman of the GJA in the Ashanti Region and the mantle falls on the Vice Chairman to act as chairperson till fresh elections are held in the Ashanti Region for his replacement,” he stressed.
Affail Monney noted that though it is constitutional for the association’s president to divert into politics he argued that it is unethical for him to be holding on to his position.
