The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMA) has advised farmers in the Southern part of the country to sow early maturing crops during the minor rainy season.
The GMA said the minor rainy season the country is currently experiencing would end by October 31; therefore it is favourable for crops that would mature within a month.
Mr. Tetteh Portuphy, the GMAs Senior Meteorologist told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that people should de-silt choked gutters and drains to ensure that flood waters flow uninterrupted.
Where gutters and drains are choked, a 60 millimeter rainfall could easily cause flooding, warned the senior meteorologist.
Southern Ghana is currently experiencing its second and minor rainy season.
Meanwhile, Northern Ghana continues to experience its major and only rainy season.
