Brigadier General Sampson Adeti, General Officer Commander of the Southern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), says the army is concerned about the possible spillover from the Nigerian terrorist group- Boko Haram.

He said Boko Haram could spread their activities to other countries in West Africa, and Ghanas security agencies are aware of possible unguarded entry points that the terrorist group could exploit to infiltrate the country.

Speaking to the media during this years land combat power demonstration at the Bundase Training Camp on Friday, he said the army is happy there have not been any incidents of Boko Haram in the country.

He said at the GAF have loyal officers who are ready to fight and defend the country against either a foreign or home grown threats.

We reassure the nation of the armys operational posture, preparedness and readiness to defend and protect the country from any aggression, be it internal and or external, he said.

Brig Gen Adeti also added that the government has recently supplied modern ammunition to the infantry unit and other military units hence the armys vigilance to battle the enemies of the state.

All over the world, personnel of the army are the decisive component of land warfare both in joint and multi-nationals operations.

The army and the versatility of land combat power remains the ultimate means of imposing a nations will and achieving a lasting outcome, he said

Speaking on the importance of the annual land combat demonstration, the commanding officer said it would sharpen the skills of participants in the application of their tactics, techniques and procedures.

Brig Gen Adeti said the demonstration, which attracted the support from Ghana Navy and Ghana Air Forces, would equip the military personnel with the capabilities of the GAF in its joint combat operations.

About 500 all ranks personnel participated in the battle ground simulation with various combat manouvres by the Infantry Platoon, Infantry Company, Infantry Battalion as well two Air Force fighter jets, among others.

The event was attended by Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, Greater Accra Regional Minister and Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, Deputy Minister of Defence who commended the military for its dedication to keep the country safe.

He assured the military of governments readiness to provide it with logistical support to enable it deliver on its mandate.
