Amass Ghana has stormed the Eastern regional capital with another ground breaking event dubbed “Amass Ghana peace games” with the theme; Election 2016: Uniting for peace through games.

Mr. Kofi Asamoah-Ababio, the president of the organization in an address noted that, Ghanaians will trump petty jealousies, selfish motives, and parochial interests and embrace the peace atmosphere as we inch closer to elections. He said, in this 21st century, nobody will want to swap a country’s reputation for any evil deeds.

According to him, our 24 years of democratic experience should give us every reason to remain peace abiding citizens because irrespective of one’s political views and inclination, we remain solute and remind ourselves that Ghana is bigger than any individual, group of persons or political party.

“Since the inception of our democracy, one thing remains cessation “love” because with leaping-hot critics, heated argument from various political divide, throat-cut allegations, agreeing to disagree on issues, we go back to our normal duties. I believe it is vital for people to express their anger and grievances with words than with machetes,” he opined.

He however maintained that, politicians who have been ridden on hate/violence speeches must change their ways because less than 10 percent of the 25 million population can flee the country when the nation is plunge into a state of anarchy.

“I understand why some group of persons had to reward their opponents with inflictions and suffering… it’s all good but it is very hard for them to realize that, they could not see the forest for the murmuring pines and the hemlocks – resorting to that is like practicing the old religion.”

Adding that, he fathom why people have to hide behind political image to orchestrate all forms of evil deed but in doing that, don’t we swap our humanism for that of animalism, he quizzed.

He hinted that, the media cannot be ruled out in any democratic environment but that doesn’t mean they can hide behind the titles to channel out cooked materials. Least they forget that, the ore that they dug out of their own mine, currency coined in their own mint could debauched to conundrums.

“Ghana is the mother country of Africa and the very fountain-head of African liberty. It is the African country where independence was first received; it is the country where democracy is deepened, it is the country where rule of law is rooted, it is a country where that best love relic in Africa, priding ourselves us the eye of Africa has inspired tens of thousands of our men, women and children, so that we believe we have a sacred mission, which is not to worship the golden calf, but to spread the Ghanaian spirit, and to keep the fires of freedom burning, so that with God’s permission we triumph”, he added.
