The seven day ultimatum given to Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi Bonte II to abdicate his throne will expire today, Wednesday 28, 2016.
The Spokesperson for the five members of the Gbese Dzase said they’re meeting with their lawyers to initiate legal action towards restoring the dignity of the Gbese throne.
Nii Ayi Bonte II has come under intense pressure to vacate his stool following pronouncements he made which his Kingmakers say were a breach of Royal ethics.
But there is currently controversy over claims that the Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi-Bonte II, should vacate his throne after his alleged unpopular assertion that if President Mahama does not win the 2016 presidential election, he would destool himself.
While one group, the ‘Gbese Dzase Kingmakers’, has given him an ultimatum for him to vacate the seat in seven days, two other groups are claiming that the chief’s speech was taken out of contest.
Gbese Shippi Numo Okai Keteku, a member of the Dzase said in an interview with Accra-based Joy FM that they will seek legal redress in the matter.

What has the Gbese Mantse done that hasn't happened before in Ghana? He said he will vacate his stool but has decided not to, what now is the problem? Did he swear an oath to anyone or any of his ancestors and the deities of his Land that he would vacate his stool? Is he to vacate the stool because John Mahama didn't win the election? Would you have asked him to vacate the stool if John Mahama had won the election? In either way, John Mahama winning or not, was the Gbese Mantse's act not still political? Why are we so hypocrite as individuals and Ghanaians? There were other chiefs in the Eastern, Brong Ahafo, Volta and Ashanti Regions who were noted to have come out to support Nana Addo, but no mention is made of them because he won the election. What a sory state of affairs! When shall we come out of this mediocre attitude of ours? A nation full of black stomachs, avarice and nepotism, so sad this is now the Ghana we live in. The Gbese must be left alone!
Whilst it is unfortunate that chiefs who are supposed to unite their subjects have been drawn into party politics for personal parochial reasons. It should be a lesson for chiefs not to engage in petty politics. I do not think he should be de-stooled, I think it should be a good lesson for leaders who should rise above politics not to engage in politics because the ramifications could be dire. Staying as a chief will make him one of the most disrespected individuals in his constituency. We are to be more mature than this little thinking chief and not allow him to draw us down with him.
THE CHIEF SHOULD VACATE THE PALACE WITHOUT FURTHER DELAY. NEXT TIME HE WILL LEARN TO TALK LIKE A CHIEF AND NOT A FOOT SOLDIER
Pls,let it go.It should be a lesson to all, being a chief or public office holder
i am not surprised at all bcos tommy okine during his accra heart of oaks time never for once made any sensible comments. he is always spewing out gabbage such a person was made a chief.
Shame on you. Digraceful being.
I can see he doesn't respect the stool he occupies else he wouldn't make that utterances because of John Mahama what a fo*l he is to place his stool on charskele and lost, and doesn't have the courage to abdicate his stool. A chief has been destooled in Ashanti for being a polling agent for the ndc and Gbese mantse should do the honorable thing to save the respect for that stool. Shame, shame on you Tommy Okine your ways are not God's and your party will be in opposition for 40 years.Unless President Rawlings get hold of it to reorganize and rebrand it to make it look attractive to intelligent and decent people. This crop of ndc are unintelligent crop of people and fo*ls who talk anyhow regardless of the consequences on their party. I agree with IMANI boss that ndc must revamp their cadres with intelligent people.Ndc has too many fo*ls and idi*ts in the party being led by kwas*a bi nti Asiedu Nketia and if you have such a person as a general secretary who with a clear sense will join such a party with Koku Anyidoho as deputy are you crazy? Governance is serious business and serious people must be chosen not loud mouths with no sense of thinking.
Shaaaaaame, a Chief shouldn't speak like that, u ve lost touch with ur people, , think u must step down honourbly to avoid any eventuality which wouldn't be in ur best interest, and the little dignity left in u, m ashame to call u Gbesse Mantsey, Just use ur real name Tommy Okine
TOMMY OKINE BOW OUT HONOURABLE AS U PROMISE.YOU NO MORE HAVE RESPECT.NOBODY FORCED U TO SAY THAT.SO VACATE NOW TO BRING RESPECT BACK TO THE GBESE STOOL.NEXT TIME IF U GET EVEN STADIUM CHIEF U WILL KNOW HOW TO TALK.GO AWAY,
