The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has dismissed suggestions that last Saturday's deadly gas explosion was ignited by the charcoal grill of a khebab seller.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, Prince Billy Anaglatey determining the cause of the fire should be left to technical persons such as the GNFS to investigate.
He explained that having a khebab seller around the scene of the gas leakage does not mean that was the cause of the inferno because there were other factors such as the direction and speed of the wind at play.
"I saw people coming out with the cause of the fire and I want to say that to determine the cause of the fire should be left to we the technical people to determine what exactly the cause is.
"It is wrong, I saw on social media they were saying that it was even a khebab seller who has caused that".

Where on earth, except africa, will you see someone operating an open fire cooking pot in the vicinity of a filling station. And people were passing daily, including so called leaders and educated people. How many more people have to die before we learn about regulatory policies and why they should be enforced.
If you do not know what caused the fire, how can you rule out an eye witness account? This country has a long way to go.
Commuters over 100 metres away sustained various degrees of injuries and burnt. In fact a Net2 TV Camera man busily trying to capture the raging fire, we were told, was hurled up his feet and filming accoutrements on the overhead pass, almost a 100 metres away from the scene of fire on to the ground after a second explosion and lost his life, we were told or the report has it today. Now, come to think of the so far DISCREDITED and POOR JOURNALISTIC piece, HOW CAN A 'KHEBAB SELLER Fire Ignitor' Survive the Inferno when his stall is said to be just 15 metres away? Intriguingly also have enough time to evacuate all his wares and he himself to safety without a scratch? MY GOD, KOJO!...This deduction is the most NON_SENSICAL and outrageous ABSURDITY I can expect from a journalist of your calibre. Disappointed me BIG TIME KOJO.
So where is the Khebab seller? Did he get injured? Is he dead? And how come so far we have not had a first hand account of this link of the inferno to the Khebab except for the theoretical account of Kojo Yankson who in any case was no where near the scene at the time of the incident? Journalists sometimes can paint pictures of events and present it as though they saw the real event unfold. One of the kind of journalist was on TV3 causing fear and panic and claiming gas cylinders had exploded at the kitchen/pantry of PRESEC following the explosion at Atomic junction. Whether it is mischief or ignorance I cannot understand. But how can gas explosion at Atomic Junction gas gas to explode in the kitchen of PRESEC without and fire coming to PRESEC?
Why? is the khebab seller your brother? U want to cover up for him ong...
