The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), has announced a general reduction in electricity tariffs effective March 15, 2018.
The Commission received tariff proposals from the utility service providers in the electricity sectors namely, Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), Enclave Power Company Limted (EPCL) and the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).
A statement copied to Peacefmonline.com and signed by the Executive Secretary of PURC, Mami Dufie Ofori, said “the PURC after extensive stakeholders’ consultations, detailed technical analysis of utility tariff proposals and consideration of inputs and concerns of consumers, has approved tariff reductions for various electricity consumer categories, effective 15th March 2018”
The review process resulted in reductions in key utility costs. The reductions, which are based on PURC’s 2015 Gazetted Electricity Tariffs are only on the energy charges and range from 10% to 30%.
The statement further indicated that “residential customers will enjoy 17.5% reduction, non-residential customers; 30%, Special Load Tariff Customers; 25% and 10% for the mining sector”.

The so-called social democrats are in reality creaters lo0ters and sharers!!! Anytime NPP is in power, the Capitalist party introduce pro-poor interventions to ameliorate the sufferings and hardships of the poor. Also the party improves the economy only to be destroyed by NDC and sends back Ghana to HIPIC or for BAILOUT.
Ndc is now confused don't know what to do n say NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU
Ah!! U reminded the president of his campaign message and i quote "electricity tariffs is more than individual rent" end quote, and now he has taken steps to reduce it to fulfill the promise he made to Ghanaians and you are complaining of how they arrived at the percentage of reduction Ebey!! blada o" what kind of satans are you?😈😈😈😈
Better people in government NOW! Why is it that when NPP comes to power, there is relieve by the introduction on MAJOR pro-poor policies by the so-called social democrats on come to CREATE, LOOT & SHARE?
Why are the NDC and their my0pic rented press and douche bag serial callers so silent on this reduction. All they know is politics of 1gn0rance and w0rthle$$ press conferences. May the NDC never come close to power again and stay in opposition till they genuinely put Ghana at heart. Amen
kwame mensah, you can go to he11. if you and your ndc had any better ideas in your blocked skulls, why didn't you do all the pish arithmatics you have put up here??? ndc for 4years, collapsed businesses, people died, homes burned, gadgets damaged all because of dumso.4 years! ghanaians wallowed. then mahama introduced the new electric meters which were like blood-sucking meters. you top up and next day, you're out of power. it continued until mahama asked that consumers are reimbursed part of the money which never materialised. abr) nkoaaaaaaa...siaaaaaaaaaafuoo
ndc the doomsayers are worried and crying that tarriffs have been reduced. ndc will never ever come back to power. now ndc members have joined armed robbery. one already killed in jirapa, ndc constituency organiser. God will expose all ndc's ev1l tactics to bring ghana down. any armed robber caught will be shot dead instantly so ndc tell your members taking part in armed robbery now to change their ways.# npp all the way, nana addo is the best president and at par with dr nkrumah.
So this is what good governance feels like...me likey
PURC HAS GAZETTED 2015, REVIEWED AND GAZETTED NEW TARIFF IN 2016 UNDER MAHAMA, I.E RE ALLIGNMENT, REVIEWED IN 2017 APRIL AND GAZETTED . SINCE 2015, TARIFF HAVE BEN REVIEWED DOWNWARDS TWICE. I WONDER WHY PURC IS DECEIVING PUBLIC BY USING A HIGHER BASE FIGURE WHICH HAS BEEN REVOKED LONG TIME. BASING THE PERCENTAGE REDUCTION ON 2015 GAZZETTED TARIFF WHICH HAS BEEN REVOKED OR NOT IN OPERATIONAL FOR A LONG TIME IS A MAJOR DECEIT. FOR EXAMPLE A HOUSEHOLD BILL IN 2015 WAS GH¢ 100. THIS WAS REVIEWED DOWNWARDS TO GH¢90, 10% IN 2016. FURTHER REDUCTION IN 2017 TO GH¢80 ,11% REDUCTION. FINALY IN 2018, PURC HAS REVIEWED IT FROM GH80 TO GH¢70. 13% REDUCTION. CLANDESTINELY, USING 2015 GAZZETTED FIGURES ON THE SURFACE APPEARS 30% REDUCTION AS PROCLAIMED BY PURC BUT RATHER 13% REDUCTION. THIS A KIND OF DECEIT PURC IS ASKING GHANAIANS TO BELIEF. PURC SHOULD BE BOLD AND PUBLISH THE RECKONER DETAILING HOW MUCH IS THE COST OF 100KWH IN 2017 DEC . AND COMPUTE THE COST FOR THE SAME UNIT 100KWH AS ANNOUNCED AND CUSTOMERS SHOULD DO THEIR OWN PERCENTAGE REDUCTION . THE LIST SHOULD CAPTURE LINE BY LINE FROM ZERO TO 800 KWH COST IN 2017 DEC AND COST/BILL IN MARCH 2018
I pray dumsor does not come around this time.......!
