Government will soon introduce a "1 District, 1 Affordable Housing" project, a leading member of the ruling party has disclosed.
According to Hon. Ayeh-Paye, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Committee of Parliament, the Ministry of Works and Housing is already acquiring funding to begin the project.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' Morning Show, he stated that the project has become necessary after the Ministry discovered that several Ghanaians lack proper shelter.
The housing project is to rectify the problem and ensure that the Ghanaian citizenry get affordable places for shelter.
Hon. Ayeh-Paye stressed that the government is fully ready to roll out the initiative, though it sounds ridiculous and almost impossible as some critics may think.
“We’re about to build affordable housing in every district capital", he insisted.
However, host of Kokrokoo, Kwami Sefa Kayi has cast doubts over the promise by the Committee Chairman saying "it is not possible".
He asked Hon. Ayeh-Paye and the NPP government to cease bandying about slogans and touting initiatives that are not likely to see the light of day.
He urged him and the ruling party to "learn a lesson from the NDC" who were voted out of power barely two years ago for mostly reneging on their word.

please, let us hear clear plans and not promises that raise hopes only to be dashed later when the govt says "we did not make that promise, it was made by someone who was not mandated to do so"
these same ministers will share these buildings among their girl friends and relatives
@Nat can you use your head
This is been my motivation to contest to become a DCE should the government carry on with her intent to have them elected. This is the only sure way to not only decongest the cities, it will go a long way in helping to plan our villages trickling on to plan the cities as well. Go to other countries to see how new cities are created by this concept.
They knew you guys are fu.uu.lls and will accept everything they throw inside. Omo nim s3 ebi nomo agyimi. Masrreeeee saaaa
I support Sefa Kayi, enough of the talks and promise though I love this team. We want actions ooooo
ya bre mo ne promise
I thought 110 ministers where too much , till I got to know Mahama paid almost 180 ministers. 90 ministers multiply by double salary. Shame on NDC.
It is possible! Do you know how many investors are lined up to do affordable housing? I can understand why many are skeptical,in the past we have had a government who for all intents and purposes was a criminal enterprise aka Create, Loot and Share. Again people are lined up with their money, not gov't money to undertake this housing across the nation. Let's believe that this brand of management is VASTLY different from the CLS crowd. It is DOABLE!
Still better than create, loot and share.
