The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Akufo will today meet chiefs and stakeholders at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) for a review of the gains made and the way forward on the ban on illegal mining.
Chiefs and stakeholders from five mining regions, Central, Western, Eastern, Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions are attending the stocktaking meeting.
A presidential staffer, Mr Charles Bissiw who made this known said members of the inter-ministerial committee on mining will also be at the meeting.
Already, President Akufo-Addo has put his presidency on the line with a commitment to end the illegal small scale mining popularly called galamsey in Ghana.
He has since the ban of illegal mining in March 2017 been rallying traditional leaders’ support and reiterated that if there is one right thing to be done, that thing is for all to fight galamsey, reclaim the lands and leave for posterity a “green country” and a “clean space.”
