THE TEMA Regional Police Command is investigating four staff members of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) over allegations that they conspired and sold a payloader of the assembly as scrap.

Per the official complaint of the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Felix Mensah Nii Annan-La, to the police, names implicated in the missing payloader are Alexander Allotey, TMA Mechanical Engineer; Lawrence Agyekum, Special Aide to the MCE, who doubles as Assembly Member for Ottawa Electoral Area; Stanley Arthur, and one Figo. Stanley Arthur and Figo are security aides to the MCE.

The suspects were said to have sold the payloader at the Ramsar Site in Community Five near Sakumono Village to a scrap dealer at the cost of GH¢12,000 without the knowledge of the assembly.

The suspects have been placed on leave with pay by the assembly, whilst investigation is ongoing to locate the whereabouts of the machine which was bought almost two years ago.

Information gathered from sources close to the police and the assembly by DAILY GUIDE indicates that the matter was brought to the attention of the MCE by an anonymous person.

Without wasting much time, the MCE directed the Public Relations and Compliant Committee (PRCC) of the assembly to initiate investigations into the matter. It was concluded that the earth-moving machine had been stolen.

On Wednesday, November 7, 2018, the MCE lodged an official complaint with the Tema Regional Police Command and a directive was issued to the Community One District Police Headquarters for further investigations into matter.

The four persons were then arrested and remanded in police custody.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the suspects were still in police custody.

However, a report from the police revealed that the implicated persons were giving conflicting statements to the police and accusing people of aiding and abetting the crime.
