There is a need for authorities to take another bold decision on markets and transport systems in the country to avoid community spread of the deadly coronavirus.
Dr. Collins Agyemang-Badu of the Department of Psychology, University of Ghana says “if we want to ensure social distancing, we need to take bold decisions and focus on our markets and transport system or else it will be difficult to prevent community spread”.
He urged that Transport unions in a way of helping to fight the virus can ask their members to reduce the number of people sitting in public transports and perhaps increase the fares instead.
“We must learn to adjust to some new things. We need to also focus on our markets and transportation. These are two key areas that can create problems if care is not taken,” he said while discussing the COVID-19 pandemic on Peace FM’s 'Kokrokoo' programme, Monday.
