There's good news for cocoa farmers as Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has announced a package for the Cocoa sector.
Speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', he admitted that indeed there are challenges in the cocoa sector.
"Cocoa industry has faced some challenges, I think there is no doubt at all that the output is not as high as we have . . . there has been some challenges . . . what we have done is to negotiate with Cote d'Ivoire a living income differential of $400 per metric tonne to every cocoa farmer . . ." he said, adding payments will start from this October, the coming cocoa season.
He said this will help inject a lot of energy into the Cocoa Sector and it will be better than it is.
