The NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South Constituency, Dr Clement Abas Apaak says the country has allowed some fertile grounds for homosexuality activities to take place.

Without beating about the bush, Dr Clement Apaak said that President Nana Akufo-Addo should be the one leading the crusade to end the activities of homosexuality in the country as he is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and should order the closure of the LGBTQI office.

“ . . should this not be the responsibility of the President to take a stand and make sure that something that is against our laws, culture and faith, as well as many Ghanaians are against it is not allowed in the country? Shouldn’t he be bold and take decisive action against homosexuality?”, he quizzed.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Dr Abas Apaak insisted that the tacit encouragement the people have to set up offices in the country is as a result of President Akufo-Addo’s inability to say emphatically when he had the glorious opportunity on Al Jazeera that homosexuality will never happen under his watch as his predecessors did.

“ . . I am saying this and I want it to be on record that these people have had tacit encouragement from the inability of President Akufo-Addo to have said emphatically when he had the glorious opportunity on Al Jazeera when he was asked, instead of him to have said what his predecessors had said that it would never happen under his watch, he said it was bound to happen,” he indicated.

“He [Nana Akufo-Addo] predicated that there was not sufficient advocacy, sufficient activism to bring about a change in the law. He said this in 2017 and the press release of these homosexuality people stated that they formed the group in 2018 and in 2021, they are opening offices,” he claimed.

He maintained that, “the only person who can intervene in this matter of homosexuality establishment in the country and assure Ghanaians and therefore take decisive action to ensure that this abomination, unnatural behaviour does not become a part of Ghanaian culture as well as destroy the Ghanaian society and our values is no other than H.E President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. We should not beat about the bush”.
