National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku has encouraged the youth in Ghana to engage in agriculture.
Speaking on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Sammi Awuku bemoaned how agriculture has been bastardized in the country making it look like agriculture is a punishment.
Mr. Awuku urged government and corporate entities to make agriculture attractive to the youth by assisting them with the needed tools and resources ''so that these young people will be able to see that, look, agric is not a punishment but it can help [1] the economy grow. It can also help you develop. When you go to Europe, the rich are the farmers but it isn't like that here. So, I think we need to change that''.
To him, one of the areas for youth development and economic growth is agriculture stressing ''I think that the Ghanaian youth is very creative and when given the support and I think this discussion is a fantastic one, and I will challenge coporate Ghana''.
Sammi Awuku made these comments while discussing matters regarding youth development.
