Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, the nation’s biggest culinary manufacturing facility, received the National Quality Award (Gold Category) at the just-ended Ghana Industry & Quality Awards held in Accra by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI).

The company was decorated with the award for distinction in the promotion of quality control in its manufacturing processes. Nutrifoods’ recognition followed thorough vetting and examination in the areas of food safety, quality control, hazard control, emergency response, operational planning, and control, environmental control, sustainable practices of the company, and finally, leadership commitment to safety, among many other specified benchmarks.

The National Quality Awards scheme was instituted in 2017 by the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) in collaboration with the Association of Ghanaian Industries (AGI), and seeks to reward excellence and the application of internationally accepted quality standards among companies in the fields of manufacturing and service delivery.

Its objective is to promote excellence through quality management, reward and honor companies for their efforts at achieving quality products and services, encourage companies to adopt a standard approach to their operations and acknowledge the contribution of quality to the national economy and all aspects of corporate management.

This recognition follows Nutrifoods Ghana Ltd.'s Global FSSC 22000 reaccreditation this year, which acknowledged and certified the company's commitment to food safety through scientific and technical initiatives, providing stakeholders and regulatory bodies with confidence in their ability to identify and control food safety hazards. The certification also offers an annual auditing and recertification scheme, which ensures consistency in safety and quality delivery. Since 2016, the company has been recertified for consistent delivery in food safety management.

Commenting on the awards, Mr. Amitabh Coomar, Business Head of Nutrifoods, said, "It is important to note that this recognition is the result of consistent hard work from the entire team. Over the past years, the teamwork has been incredible. Our commitment to safety in all aspects has ensured the growth and sustainability of this business."

"We believe that safety should be at the core of our operations here, and we are always ensuring that the right things are done. With this recognition, we are going to continue improving in all aspects of our operations to ensure excellent delivery and growth." Mr. Coomar added.

It may be recalled that the company’s biscuit factory also became the first biscuit manufacturing facility in West Africa to receive the Global FSSC certification in 2016.

Nutrifoods Ghana Limited is a joint venture between Olam International and Sanyo Foods. The company is responsible for the manufacturing and processing of high-quality food brands in Ghana and West Africa.

In Ghana, the company operates two important processing facilities, such as the biscuit manufacturing plant located on the Spintex Road and a culinary plant in Tema, which contribute significantly to the provision of quality nutrition to the Ghanaian consumer.

The company is also responsible for the distribution of high-quality and popular brands such as Tasty Tom Tomato Mix, rich in fortified vitamins, as well as popular household biscuit brands like Perk biscuits, NutriSnax, King Cracker, Royal Digestive, and Milky Magic.
