The first part of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) has been ratified.
By this ratification, Ghana would be able to export legal timber to the European market.
According to the Minister of Lands, Forestry and Natural Resources, Hon. Collins Dauda, this agreement will help the timber exporters to get governed licensed to enable them sell their products on the European market.
Ghana exports most of its timber to the European countries but required a license to penetrate more into the market.
Speaking to Peace News in an interview, Hon. Collins Dauda, said the move was to create a platform to protect the Ghana timber and pave way for them as the European Union have laws governing timber exportation.
You require a license before you can sell on the European market,he said apparently, insisting that the Europeans require a license from marketers.
