Residents of Asawase in the Ashanti region witnessed a gory and dramatic episode last Saturday as human hands were chopped off in the open during a street fight between two rival gangs in the area.
It is uncertain what started the fight but an eye witness who narrated the incident to XYZ says street fights are becoming a common feature in the area.
Narrating the incident to XYZ News, Frank Danso, an eye witness to the street fight between the two rival gangs said a young man was picked up by a gang from a fried rice eatery and beaten up mercilessly. According to Danso, some of the men who were wielding machetes cut off the victim’s wrist to the surprise of onlookers.
Some members of the gang were also flaunting pump action guns openly.
Meanwhile the Member of Parliament for the Asawase Constituency, Mutaka Mubarak who confirmed the incident to XYZ News said he has personally asked the police to investigate the matter.
He however noted that it is difficult to gather information about the gang as people are afraid to volunteer information out of fear of being attacked.
