CECILIA DALAKU aka Layame, a 53-year-old women’s organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Awona in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region, has been arrested for causing unlawful bodily harm to her lover.

Asamoah Toto, 61, a native of Trede near Kumasi, sustained four deep lacerations on the head, with his lower lip severed after his mistress, whom he has lived with for the past year, attacked him with a cutlass.

He is currently at the New Edubiase Government Hospital receiving treatment, whilst the suspect is in police custody assisting with investigations.

The bloody action involving the NDC women’s organizer happened on the night of Saturday following an altercation that ensued between the love birds. The victim, a father of five, had reported from hospital a few months after undergoing a hernia operation when he was attacked, Daily Guide gathered.

He told the paper on his hospital bed that around 9pm on that Saturday, his mistress, Cecilia Dalaku notified him that she was moving out of their house because she wanted to be at her own place.

According to the victim, a misunderstanding ensued between them as a result, compelling him to demand his GH˘700 from Cecilia. Opanin Asamoah narrated that the mere mention of the GH˘700 got the NDC women’s organizer infuriated. “She therefore picked up a cutlass and began to slash me at will,” said the 61-year farmer, who indicated that he had lived with the woman for the past year.

Dr. Manya Mensah, medical superintendent of New Edubiase Government Hospital, who confirmed the story, said the victim was brought there around 11pm.

According to him, the 61-year-old man was bleeding profusely and looked very weak. He had four deep lacerations in the skull with other cutlass wounds around the neck, finger and palm.

He was rushed to the theatre for an emergency operation, he added.
