The Mamprusi community in Bawku has rejected President John Dramani Mahama’s call to return to the negotiating table.
Addressing a durbar of Chiefs and people of the Upper East Region on Tuesday, President Mahama appealed to the Mamprusi’s in Bawku to overturn their boycott of the peace talks.
But Spokesperson for the Mamprusi’s in Bawku, Mohammed Tahidu Nnambe told Citi News, they would not heed the President’s call as the NDC government has taken sides in the protracted chieftaincy dispute between the Mamprusis and Kusasis.
He said: “We have raised some concerns about the happenings in the committee and we are not satisfied with certain things because we have not been fairly treated and there have been political interference and we were not treated like equals. But ever since we raised these concerns, nothing has been done about it.”
He added that “we will not go back until these concerns are addressed.”
