THIRTY-ONE year old Joseph Kwesi Quarshie who could not stand the thought of his girlfriend jilting him for another man has ended up stabbing her to death.

Naomi Ayagah, 23, a secretary with JM Company located at Newtown, Accra, met her untimely death at Alajo after she allegedly told the suspect their four year relationship had come to an end.

The Kotobabi District Police Command which is investigating the case told DAILY GUIDE the suspect stabbed Naomi beneath the breast with a kitchen knife. According to ASP Stephen Coffie, Kotobabi District Crime Officer, the incident occurred Monday around 12:30am at Alajo Down near Dr Kwarteng’s Clinic.

He said Naomi lived with her parents at Maamobi and had been in a relationship with the suspect for the past four years.

Information gathered indicated that Naomi decided to end the relationship after things turned sour. Suspect Joseph could not withstand the thought of being jilted and threatened to kill victim if she dared call off their relationship. On October 22, Naomi received a phone call from Joseph asking her over to his house to collect her “dirty clothing.”

Her father Clement Ayagah who overheard their conversation, advised her not to go but the deceased declined and left around 10:00pm to the suspect’s house for her things. While she was there however, a fight ensued between the two which led to Joseph stabbing the victim with a knife.

Realizing the seriousness of what he had done, the suspect used the knife to slash both sides of his torso apparently to give the impression that the deceased had also stabbed him but the wounds were shallow, according to police.

The victim and suspect were conveyed in a taxi to Naomi’s father’s house then taken to the hospital by some neighbors around 12:30am.

Mr. Ayagah rushed the couple to the Ridge Hospital for treatment but Naomi died around 3:05am. Doctors who attended to her called on the Nima police to investigate the matter.

Suspect Joseph was arrested by the police after he was treated and discharged. He is currently in police custody awaiting trial.
