The usual bustle and hustle amidst euphoria that herald the celebration of Christmas, appears to be on the down side in the capital of the Eastern Region, Koforidua, as there is virtually no Christmas feelings of excitement in the air.
A tour embarked on by the Eastern File on Monday to find out how residents in the capital were preparing ahead of the yuletide, confirmed what they (residents) described as dry Xmas, as business activities had gradually come to a halt.
Traders were spotted sitting around their goods with their chins buried in their palms, whilst shop owners looked at passers-by and cars, with those in the food business enjoying comparatively good patronage.
The traders attributed the situation to the unimpressive economic condition, and called on the government to do something.
