Some aged persons at Awudome-Avenui in the Ho-West District, have appealed to corporate institutions, non-governmental organisations and individuals, to extend kind gestures to the aged during festivities.
They said such gestures make them proud as senior citizens.
The aged made the appeal when Adzah Yao Foundation, a Ho-based non-governmental organisation, presented assorted items to 72 physically challenged and aged persons in that community.
Each person received a quantity of rice, tinned fish and tomatoes and soap.
Mr Ferdinand Dzaga, 68, said during festivities such as Christmas, the aged feel lonely, and are normally left out of the celebrations, and therefore, commended Adzah Yao Foundation for the initiative.
Visibly excited, Madam Lydia Dzebu, a 83-year-old woman, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that such initiative was an indication that the community was developing, with the youth, thinking about the aged.
Mr Edem Norgbedzi, Project Co-ordinator of the Foundation, said the presentation was an expression of members'love to the aged.
