The Assembly member in Denkyira-Obuasi reportedly linked to the murder of Captain Maxwell Mahama is in police custody.
The assembly member, William Baah, reportedly turned himself into police in the Diaso area, near Denkyira-Obuasi, on Wednesday afternoon, and is being transported to the Central Region Police Command. Five persons suspected to have taken part in the killing are also in the Central Regional Police after being picked up on Tuesday.
One of the five suspects sustained a gunshot wound during the lynching that resulted in the Army officer’s death, and is receiving treatment. Captain Mahama was armed at the time, and fired off at least a shot during a struggle before being killed by his attackers on Monday morning.
The other four suspects are being held at the Bakaano Police station in Cape Coast. Capt. Mahama was an officer of the 5th Infantry Battalion and was said to have been on his daily jogging routine on Monday when he was lynched. He had been deployed there as part of an anti-illegal mining operation. The residents claimed Captain Mahama was a robber as he was in civilian clothing at the time, and with a gun.

My take in this issue is simply for the Police to transfer all the suspects to Accra immediately. We cannot trust the flight of the other perpetrators of the this heinous crime as definite. They could mass up and try something nasty. These savages could do anything and nothing should be left to chance for these people to scuttle the investigations by the Police.
Let's all respect the rule: "Innocent until proven guilty." However, if this guy is found guilty - hang him, so that this brutal 'mob justice', that has been going on for years, will stop.
please let us be patient with the people at denkyira. its a mark of a piled error by us all. we all do same and wish we all from now learn how to stop that mob attack, if our police and judges will be a bit smart or prompt, such occurances wouldnt occur bcx ppl think there will be no justice hence the deliver instance justice., please our police and judges must be prompt and asure the nation of their readiness, at least a joint police and judicial nationa live televised press conference will calm things and once ppl are asured of justice, such cases wouldnt continue bcx we will all have faith in the police station and courts for justice., again the too long or delay in court also makes such occurances bcx times its clear and even accused accept the charges but still the court will prolong and at the tail end, the case is in a way a bad case and its threw out so lets all reflect and have a nation policy on that. thank you
