Employees of Afcons Infrastructure Limited, builders of the 80 kilometers single gauge Tema to Akosombo railway line, has called off their four-day sit-down strike.
The workers, numbering over 200, on Friday morning resumed their normal duties after officials from the Labour Office, the Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC), third-party contractors, AFCONS management and the P4olice settled on a truce on Thursday.
Mr. Eric Adelaquaye, Head, Industrial Relations Department, TUC addressing the workers after the meeting, instructed them to resume work whilst the union officials mediated with management to get all their grievances addressed.
Mr. Adelaquaye assured the workers that they had the right to collective bargaining as the law stipulates, therefore TUC would ensure their rights were not curtailed.
