Two new arrests have been made in connection with the death of the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman, Mr Ekow Quansah Hayford.
This brings the total number of suspects arrested to eight. The two new arrests were disclosed by the prosecution when the case came up for hearing on Friday at an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Ms Evelyn Asamoah.
The names of the two new suspects were however not mentioned in court when the case came up for hearing Friday, October 30, 2020, reports Graphic Online's Justice Agbernorsi who was in the courtroom.
The earlier six suspects were arraigned on October 21, 2020.
They are Alhassan Abubakar, aka Abu Fulani; Naziru Fudailu Nash, aka SP; Alhassan Mahama Yahaya, aka Mystical Cloud; Amadu Yakubu; Haruna Osumanu and Adam Alhassan.
They have all pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.
Charge sheet
At Friday's hearing, the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Emmauel Haligah who held brief for the substantive prosecutor in the case told the court that the two new suspects would be processed for court in addition to the six. He added that the prosecution would amend the charges in due course and prayed for a short adjournment to enable the prosecution amend the charge sheet and arraign all eight suspects.
The court adjourned the case to November 2, 2020.
