The Ghana Police Service has apologized to journalists after some were mistreated during the prosecution of the Head Pastor of Glorious Word Power Ministries, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah.
Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah and two other people from his church were arrested for issuing death threats at fetish priestess turned Evangelist, Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly called Nana Agradaa.
They were said to have brandished guns in videos and circulated them on social media.
The Pastor and the two suspects were arraigned before Accra Circuit Court on Monday, September 13, 2021 but the journalists assigned to cover the court case were assaulted and refused entry into the courtroom.
In a statement signed by Acting Director-General of Public Affairs of the Police Service, ACP Kwesi Ofori and read on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', the Police said; ''A team is currently studying the footage of the alleged assault of some of the journalists to identify the alleged perpetrators for immediate prosecution.''
''We apologize unreservedly for this inconvenience and wish to give the assurance that journalist will be fully protected and allowed to do their work at all times including subsequent coverage of this case'', the Police assured.
