As part of the activities marking the birthday of His Excellency, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, which was on 7th October, members of Friends of Bawumia - 2008 Group (FoB'08 Foundation), on Saturday, the 12th of October, visited the Echoing Hills Village, an orphanage, in Madina, a suburb of Accra, to join the children to celebrate this blessed occasion.
This visit to the orphanage aligns with the birthday celebrant's philanthropic nature and echoes his usual way of engaging the less privileged in society, especially on such occasions. Dr. Bawumia has a history of philanthropic work. And, his commitment to giving back to the community is truly admirable.
The Administrator of Echoing Hills Orphanage Home, Rev. Dr. William Okyere, on behalf of the resident children of the facility, expressed his appreciation to the FoB'08 Foundation and appealed to philanthropists to come to their aid, as they still have a number of challenges.
He recalled the historic visit made by Dr. Bawumia on Friday, March 29, 2024, and described it as a "miracle and blessing" ever since that visit. He stated that: "Ever since the Vice President visited us here, many things have changed. We have regular medical treatment, the wards don't pay fees in their schools, and we have stopped paying facility fees, among others."
Founder and Group Chairman, Alhaji Dr. Mahmoud Nassir-Deen expressed his admiration of the facility and the good behaviour of the children and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome given to the visiting group.
He promised to share the exciting news he got from the home with Dr. Bawumia and urged them to continue praying for Dr. Bawumia to realize his ambition of becoming the next president of Ghana. He also stated that Dr. Bawumia will surely visit them again, but as president, with more solutions to the challenges facing the orphanage.
In an interview with the media, Alhaji Dr. Mahmoud Nassir Deen said the "break the eight" agenda of the NPP requires more than just internal cohesion. He appealed to NPP supporters to campaign vigorously and, more importantly, to come out in their numbers on the election day to vote in Dr. Bawumia as president and their NPP parliamentary candidates as MPs.
He preached peace, stating that we have only one country, the Ghana we love, and that we must do everything possible to save the country from election chaos.
In response to a question on the NPP's chances of breaking the 8, Alhaji Nassir-Deen was of the view that Dr. Bawumia's achievements as vice president and his bold vision for the future sets him miles apart from the opposition.
He stated that Ghanaians have bought into the vision espoused by the NPP flagbearer, and that will be what voters will have on their minds when they go to cast their votes on election day.
The celebration was attended by some FoB’08 National Executives, Patrons, and members from merged groups, including Breaking the 8, Bawumia Ladies, and Soldier Ladies.
