The German government will on Saturday launch an international platform for information and contacts for all German alumni working in Ghana and for organizations and businesses which have an interest in cooperating and networking.

Dubbed, the "Alumniportal Deutschland", the platform would serve as a website for people from all over the world who studied or trained in Germany to exchange knowledge and experience in its online community, establish contacts and strengthen their relationship with Germany.

At a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, Mr Issah Ouedraogo, leader of the organizing team, announced that the launch would take place at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Accra this weekend.

He said the Accra launch would offer German Alumni in Ghana the opportunity to connect and directly establish contacts with economic, political and cultural institutions and to also "present themselves as competent partners, make contacts and get to know important national players and thus build a national structure".

He said Germany-based institutions like InWent, DAAD, Goethe Institute, CIM and AGEF were partnering with the German government in organizing the event.

Ms Nnenna Nwakanma, a member of the team, said about 500 participants were expected to gather at the event to establish new contact and maintain existing ones, participate in specialist discussions, contribute knowledge and ideas and benefit from other alumni experiences.

"It would also enable the alumni the opportunity to research events and training initiatives worldwide, find jobs and assignments and present their own application profiles as well as exercise their German language skills and keep up-to-date on current topics," she added.

Mr Francis Kofi Bih, Member, Ghanaian-German Alumni Network and Adviser to Returning Experts, said over 7,000 members belonged to the portal from across the globe and that more people kept "signing on to it for their own benefits".

He urged all alumni, including those who have been trained in Ghana by any recognized German institution, to take advantage of the opportunity to attend the event.
