Since its operation in Ghana, Huawei has undertaken several initiatives to contribute immensely to the development of ICT in Ghana.
As a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT), Huawei has again echoed its commitment to widely promote ICT education across the country during its maiden edition of meet the press dubbed #HuaweiDayWithMedia.
The tech giant met with some selected journalists at Tang Palace Hotel in Accra on May 28, 2021, to share some mind-blowing plans aimed at revamping ICT education.
Since 2015, Huawei Seeds for the Future Programme and the ICT Academy Initiative has offered skilled ICT training to more than 5000 Ghanaian tertiary students and professionals in the ICT ecosystem.
Speaking to journalists, the Director for Public and Government Affairs at Huawei Ghana, Jenny Zhou, said that Huawei has launched its Tech4all initiative in Ghana to help improve and expand ICT services accessibility across the country to benefit Ghanaians in line with Huawei’s long-term digital inclusion strategies as well as the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
She noted that the company commits over 10% of its revenue to Research and Development (R&D).
The Deputy Managing Director of Huawei Technologies Ghana, Kweku Essuman Quansah, also told journalists that the business of Huawei goes beyond the scope of cell phone manufacturing which many immediately associate with the company through the widespread popularity of its smartphone brand.
According to him, the Huawei ICT Training program will by 2024 train at least 10,000 Ghanaians ICT related programmes.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Technology Chamber, Derrydean Dadzie also lauded Huawei for promoting ICT across the country.
Peacefmonline.com journalist, Ambrose Washman commended Huawei for their contribution to ICT.
To him, “with the use of technology, there is so much that can be accomplished together. But it’s important not to forget that people are at the epicentre of it all.
“Technology is best when it brings people together and that is exactly what Huawei Ghana is doing”. He added
