A renowned former Career Diplomat, Mr. K.B Asante, has asked the media to maintain a high standard of professionalism and an uncompromised respect for the truth in discharging their duties.
He gave the advice today at a 2-day workshop for the Parliamentary Press Corps at Dodowa. It is being organised by the office of Parliament on the theme: Entrenching Parliamentary Democracy in Ghana The Role of the Parliamentary Press Corps.
Mr K.B Asante noted that development can be achieved in a country where there is a committed government who enjoys the support of a well educated and informed public on issues in the country. In this regard, he observed that the media has a huge responsibility to fulfil in entrenching democracy in the country.
Touching on the issue of child labour, Mr. K.B Asante said practices of other countries must be made to suit local conditions when such practices are adopted here.
The issue of child labour in Ghana is not as serious as some people describe it, adding that children must be encouraged to learn the profession of their parents.
