The Member of Parliament for Jirapa, Hon. Dr. Francis Dakura, has described the inability of the country�s health planning and delivery system to tackle the Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) disease as a blight on the country�s health delivery system and a serious obstacle to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
He made this remark in Parliament today, February 23, 2010, in a statement on the outbreak of CSM in the Upper West Region.
According to him, 53 Communities in Jirapa have been affected by the disease with 63 individuals needing urgent medical attention and 9 people losing their lives in the district.
