The President, His Excellency, John Evans Atta Mills has been invited by the Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, to attend the 2nd Southern American-African Summit (SAAS) in Venezuela, this year.

The invitation was communicated to President Mills by the Ambassador of Venezuela to Benin with An Oversight Responsibility over Ghana, Ms Reina Arratia.

President Mills accepted the invitation and stressed he would attend the summit in person. President Mills said the summit would offer Southern American countries and Africa, the opportunity to exchange ideas on political and economic issues for mutual benefit.

President Mills described his Venezuelan counterpart as “a trail blazer who leads people towards a certain unique manner and towards development.” He thanked Mr. Chavez and the people of Venezuela for the honour done him by inviting him to the meeting slated for the end of this year.
