The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has set up a Task Team to design measures for the provision of resources to the 60 newly created District Assemblies in the country.
The Task team is expected to submit its report to the ministry of Local Government and Rural Development by December 2009. The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Hon. Joseph Yileh Chireh announced this in Parliament today following a question which stood in the name of Hon. Herod Kobina MP for Sefwi Akontombra which was asked on his behalf.
Hon. Kobina wanted to know efforts being made by the ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to provide the newly created District Assemblies with resources without relying only on their common Fund. Hon. Joseph Yileh Chireh said his ministry is concerned about the lack of infrastructure and logistics for the 60 newly created District Assemblies.
