The brouhaha generated by the infamous Yutong Bus tale spun by NDC Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Hon Michael Teye Nyaunu, will certainly not die out soon as members of the various camps vying for the flagbearer position of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), keep making a go at each other through further casting of insinuations and innuendos.
Addressing party members during a courtesy call on the founder of the party, Jerry Rawlings by Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, who used the occasion to formally make his intention to contest the NDC presidential primaries known and ask for the founders blessings, Deputy General Secretary of the ruling NDC, Kofi Adams rubbished the allegory that the driver of the symbolic Yutong Bus of the NDC should be given coffee in order to complete the journey he has embarked on.
According to him, Ghana does not have the time to waste preparing coffee for sleepy drivers when there are other drivers who can carter passengers to their respective destinations.
This country has not got time to waste and we do not have time to be stopping on our journey to look for firewood to set fire and boil coffee for people when there are drivers who can drive without having to take coffee. We have drivers that are capable to drive the entire journey without taking coffee so that we can save the time that we will use to go and look for firewood in somewhere in the village where there is no electricity to boil water to prepare coffee for somebody to drink before the bus can continue, he asserted.
He added that the NDC needs a driver who can safely drive the drunkards and talkatives to their destination.
There are some who has said there is a Yutong bus and that in the bus there are some people who they describe as drunkards and so they must throw them out. There are some people who are talking too much they must throw them away. We need a driver who can take off from the station with the drunkards, talkative, with those who are coughing, sneezing and sleeping to their destinations...If you took passengers from Accra station to Tamale, you must send them to Tamale; we are tired of a driver that has dropped too many passengers on the way to Tamale We want a driver that can take the remaining passengers and if possible get more persons to fill the spaces that has been created to their final places he added.
