Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has passionately appealed to Ghanaians to vote out the National Democratic Congress (NDC) come December 7 to change the direction of the country.

He said the NDC administarion, headed by President Mahama, had mismanaged the country’s economy and stressed the need to change the government to “move Ghana to be forward.”

Explaining the NPP’s vision for the arts and culture industry in the country in Kumasi, Nana Akufo-Addo stated that the perennial piracy problem that had plagued the music industry would be tackled once and for all by the next NPP administration.

“As president, I will support anti-piracy laws to protect our music industry to protect the rights and interest of musicians and all stakeholders,” he promised, adding that the music industry would be given massive boost by the NPP administration.

The NPP, he disclosed, has better plans and vision to expedite the transformation of the arts and culture sector, stating that the Ghana film industry which has gained international reputation would be supported by government.

Nana Akufo Addo promised to build a multi-purpose theater in Kumasi to help boost the arts and culture sector, stating that a multi-purpose theater for Kumasi has been long overdue.

He said Ghana’s monumental objects and symbols like the Adinkra symbols would be well protected to stop the exploitation of the country’s assets by foreigners.

The NPP leader said, “I will ensure that the provisions regarding the protection of Kente and Adinkra symbols are strictly enforced against illicit exploitation by foreign interest.”

Nana Akufo Addo said his administration would as a matter of urgency highlight Ghana’s festivals in the international media so that foreigners would attracted into the country to boost the tourism industry.

Internal tourism, he noted, would also be promoted, adding that the Cultural and Trust Fund set up by the Kufuor administration would be further resourced to help promote arts and culture in the country for Ghana to fully benefit from the sector.

Nana Akufo Addo said his administration would also introduce inter-schools competition in arts and culture in second cycle institutions in order to woo the youth to develop active interest in the sector.

He bemoaned the exorbitant taxes on the importation of papers, promising that the NPP government would support the paper industry.
