Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Constituency and a former Presidential aide to late President Mills has slammed the family head of his former boss for seeking to know the actual cause of President Evans Atta Mills’ death.
According to Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, the Abusuapanyin should have handled the issue in a better way by summoning Cadman Mills, the closest relative of the late President in whose possession the autopsy report is, for clarification into the cause of death, if he were an “Abusuapanyin worth his sort”.
Though he earlier claimed he would not want to say anything that would cause any “controversy because we are celebrating President Mills”, the MP for Odododiodio Constituency questioned the credibility and the leadership qualities of his former bosses family head.
“…Everybody says he is a family member but at least the little time I have been with Prof. Mills, he told me who his family members are. We visited them, we have shared time with them, and we have sat with them and talk with them.
“If he is a family member and he calls himself Abusuapanyin, what was he supposed to do traditionally? He is supposed to summon the close family of Prof. Mills…Cadman Mills who led the autopsy, the wife before him, and that from them if he is really Abusuapanyin worth his sort,” he said with fury.
Nii Lantey Vanderpuije’s comment on Metro TV’s “Good Morning” Ghana programme was in reaction to an interview Abusuapanyin Nana Supi Kwamena granted Joy News.
In the discussion, the Head of the late President’s family said the family wanted to know what killed their Kinsman.
“Even when a little child dies, we are told what exactly killed the child. We know President Mills died before former Vice-President Aliu Mahama died, but we know what killed Alhaji Mahama,” he said.
However, Hon. Vanderpiuje insisted that the best person to direct his questions to is the brother and closest relative of the late President, Cadman Mills, who has represented the family because he is in possession of the autopsy report.
This also clears the air, on the speculations of any such report on the cause(s) of death of the late President.
But this disclosure would surely fuel the ongoing debate on whether any documented material on what triggered the former President’s death must be made public or not.
