Central Regional Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwamena Duncan has hinted that faithful supporters of the elephant fraternity want Nana Akufo-Addo to remain as the party’s Flagbearer.

He rubbished claims that calls for Nana Addo to lead the party in the next general elections (2016) are needless.

According to him, he received numerous telephone calls nationwide from supporters who want the leadership of the party to maintain the first petitioner of the just ended election petition case as leader of the party.

Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show, “Kokrokoo”, Kwamena Duncan agreed with its party’s General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John that maintaining Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2016 will be prudent than electing a new candidate for the party.

“If what I am saying is false, God should judge me. After the verdict was pronounced in the petition case, I received several calls and text messages from party people from the grassroots insisting that the party (NPP) must and should maintain Nana Akufo-Addo.

“…Even if I, at the regional level is receiving such calls…how about the bigwigs in the party… receiving calls from party supporters clamouring for Nana Addo to lead the party in 2016?” he quizzed.
