Former Board member of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has opined that he is not surprised that government has decided to reconstitute the Board of ECG.
President John Dramani Mahama acting in consultation with the Council of State reconstituted some boards of public corporations such as the Divestiture Implementation Committee (DIC), the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), bringing the work of Allotey Jacobs to an end.
Reacting to this, Allotey Jacobs who is also the Central Regional Director of Communications of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) said during a panel discussion on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’, that it is not surprising because the President had already indicated that no one will stay at one position forever.
“We shouldn’t be surprised if he is reshuffling boards. Initially he made us aware that no one will stay in office for a long time and so it is not surprising that this is happening.”
He said the most important thing is the kind of work he did when he was part of the board. According to him, he has left a legacy which will forever be remembered at ECG.
