The former President of Ghana John Agyekum Kufuor says he is ready to assist in investigating the mystery surrounding the sale of the GNPC drill ship, Discovery 511.
The ship was sold in 2001 to pay judgment debts awarded to French Company Societe Generale by a UK court. However, the Energy Ministry, the GNPC and the Bank of Ghana have some difficulties producing the documents covering the transaction.
Societe-Generale officials in Ghana who appeared before the judgment debt commission stated that they dont have any record on the transaction.
A former deputy Interior Minister Kobby Acheampong is blaming former President Kufuor, Former Energy Minister Albert Kan Dapaah and Former Deputy Energy Minister K.T. Hammond for the loss.
But spokesperson to former President Kufuor, Frank Agyekum in an interview with XYZ News, said his boss did nothing wrong and is willing to assist in unraveling the mysterious deal.
