It is said that “every cloud has a silver lining”. True to this wise saying, while noise is being made about the cost accrued by the nation at the just held National Economic Forum, President of IMANI has announced to the world that beyond the ugly noises about the cost of the forum, Ghana can also boast of world class hospitality.

Clearly hypnotized by seeing such a world class Four Star Resort in the Eastern region of Ghana, Royal Senchi Resort Hotel for the first time, Mr Franklin Cudjoe, while denying figures been bandied in the media as cost of NEF, stated that the Royal Senchi Resort Hotel is excellent and of international standard.

Speaking on Citi Fm’s weekend political talk show, The Big Issue, the IMANI boss revealed that event though he has travelled to 47 countries and still counting “but Senchi is excellent”

Obviously implying Ghana’s Royal Senchi Resort Hotel is comparable or perhaps better than the hotels he slept in throughout his tour of the 47 countries, Mr Cudjoe, who was a participant at the just ended forum, noted that if he were the owner of the hotel “I would have charged $400 per person instead of the $200 including food.”

The unrepentant and virulent critic of the NDC government, as if to denounce his wife’s cooks, could not hide his admiration for the dishes at the hotel, stating “the food was great”.

The hotel, which was built in 2011, is the first Four Star Resort in the Eastern region set in the historic kingdom of Akwamu.

It is situated on the west bank of the Volta River overlooking the eco-island known locally as Denkyenyam. It also has over 80 rooms and suits with exceptional world class services.

The hotel attracted public attention when it hosted almost all the top technocrats and politicians in Ghana at the just ended National Economic Forum, which was meant to deliberate on how to find solution to the country’s ailing economy.

Participants at the forum which has been christened “Senchi Consensus” included former Governors of the Bank of Ghana, former Finance Ministers, government officials, Civil Society Organizations, political parties excluding the New Patriotic Party heads of institutions and some policy think-tanks among others.

The cost of the forum has generated heated debate with tabloids aligned to the NPP who boycotted the national event alleging that $3000 dollars was spent on each participant.

But, Mr Cudjoe denied the spurious claim, stating that his checks show that $200 was spent on each participant rather than the speculated $3,000.

He however advised government to, as a matter of urgency, make public the cost of the forum, the IMANI boss noted that 81 participants were resident at Senchi “and the top line budget was about $200 per person including, food.”
