Presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, has invited all the NPP presidential aspirants for an urgent meeting today at East Legon to discuss the recent happenings in the party and resolve all thorny issues.
“Indeed, as candidates to such a high office, we must demonstrate good leadership qualities and desire for unity within the party, devoid of acrimony, rancour and divisiveness. In this way, we shall be marching on in peace and reliability on each other for power in 2016. But it is sad to note that the current events and developments in our party following the National Officers’ elections in Tamale can only be described as worrying,” he said.
He expressed the hope that the meeting would restore hope to the party towards victory in the 2016 elections as a united party.
The invitation letters were dispatched to the various aspirants on Wednesday, June 25.
Those invited were Francis Addai-Nimo, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Nana Akufo-Addo, Joe Ghartey and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.
It’s unlikely that the ambitious MP would achieve his aim of bringing all the aspirants together because some of them were out of jurisdiction, particularly the lead contender, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the party’s 2012 presidential candidate.
Nana Akufo-Addo is in London on a private visit where he is meeting his supporters in the Diaspora, DAILY GUIDE has learnt.
With a week to the close of filing of nominations, seven people have so far picked nomination forms and hoping to submit them before the close of nominations on July 6, 2014.
